The Lark Quartet plus
Anyone interested in great chamber music playing should make it a point to see the next Lark Quarte+ concert. Last night in New York’s Merkin Concert Hall, the Lark plus pianist Jeremy Denk gave the world premiere of a piano quintet by the Pulitzer Prize winning composer, Paul Moravec. They followed with an interpretation of Schumann’s Piano Quintet in E-flat Major that literally soared off the stage and took the audience with it. The Lark has a way of pulling you in by the force of their sheer elegance and then enveloping with you with string playing that tugs at your heart.
